Patience

donteversaynever.com

Patience is hard to learn, especially if it doesn't come naturally. We need patience in many aspects of life: patience in relationships, patience at work, patience in school, and patience for our goals to become reality. Those are only a few examples of the many ways we need patience in our lives.

The most important types of patience we need are patience in God and ourselves. We need to be patient so that God can move in our lives. If we try to rush things by doing it our way as opposed to waiting for God, then that will most likely result in disaster. When we try to rush the process by doing things our way, that will only prolong it because God will stop what He's doing and let us do it, which won't work. The Bible tells us to rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, and continue instant in prayer (Romans 12:12). So while we're waiting for God to show Himself strong and mighty in our lives, it's important that we pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and thank Him in advance for working things out. Patience is a form of faith because while we wait for God to work things out, we have time to trust and believe that He'll come through. During your waiting time, your attitude toward the situation matters the most. Make sure to practice patience and praise Him while you wait!

We also need to be patient with ourselves; this is a part of self love. You're not going to change overnight; this is something I'm still learning. Yes, you may want to hurry up and change but you can't rush your process. You may feel like you're not making progress as fast as you want to and that's okay. Just know that you are making progress and you will get where you want to be eventually. It's urgent that you stop comparing yourself to other people, as that affects how patient you are. They may get there faster than you or maybe even slower than you. As long as you know that you will get there, you should be content and patient with your progress. Once you grasp the concept of patience with yourself, you will have more peace and not feel the need to compare yourself to others! You will also be able to exhibit patience toward others!

Patience is something that I'm still learning. I'm pretty sure that everyone is still trying to learn patience in some area of their lives. Just know that you are not the only one who may be struggling to learn and master this concept. Embrace the challenge and know that it will help you grow!!

What area(s) of your life are you trying to learn patience in?
