Scriptures to Always Keep in Mind

As human beings on this earth, we will always encounter difficult times, setbacks, disappointments, and doubt among other things. This is why it is very important to keep a close and intimate relationship with God. We can do this through prayer, fellowship, reading the Bible, and meditating on His word daily. Here are some scriptures for you to keep in mind when you come across tough times, and even when things are good.

Proverbs 3:6

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

It is important to include God in every decision that we make, even the ones we consider small or insignificant. By doing this, you acknowledge the fact that God is your source and is the one who makes things happen. When you consult Him, you begin to listen for His voice and watch for signs of what you are to do. Learning to include God in every single one of your decisions may be difficult at first, but with time it will become easier. Things will start to flow and you will begin to feel more content once you begin communicating with God more often. Have a conversation with God daily about your decisions and everything else that comes up.

Luke 18:27

And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.

People are not capable of making things happen on their own. We must remember to depend on God for everything because He is the creator of everything and can make things happen that we cannot. There will be times when we feel as though things won't work out, but if we can remember this scripture, we can find hope. This scripture teaches us to be dependent on God, not ourselves. When we depend on ourselves, God will step back and let things happen. When we allow God to be in the driver seat, things flow the way they are supposed to. Learn to trust God through any circumstance and believe that He can make the impossible possible.

Luke 21:36

Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Yes, we are to pray about everything, but we must also take action. We can't expect God to take every single step for us; we have to do some things ourselves while trusting that God will do His part. While we must "pray without ceasing" ( 1 Thessalonians 5:17), we must also apply the word to our lives and start to move in the direction God has for us. Watch what is happening around you and pray about it. Pay attention to your relationship with God and make efforts to improve it. Pray and give your cares over to God, but also be vigilant so that you can protect yourself and take proper steps.

Exodus 14:14

The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

Through everything that we experience, God is on our side. All we have to do is give it to God and let Him fight for us. This is a hard concept to grasp as it may seem hard to let go of things that are overwhelming and simply move on, especially if you are a new believer. You have to believe that God is on your side and that He has your best interest in mind. After all, He did die for our sins. Don't try to get revenge on that person that did you wrong. Let God handle that Himself while you stay at peace. This is why it is important to give everything to God: so that He can get things moving in your life and fight your battles all while you live in peace. Master the concept of "casting your cares on Him" (1 Peter 5:7) so that you can live a life of peace!

Psalms 46:1

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

We can always communicate with God. It is through the difficult times that we find a refuge in God the most. When we encounter tough times, we tend to feel like God has left us to deal with things by ourselves. However, that isn't true. This scripture promises that He is "a very help in trouble," meaning He is always present, especially during trying times. When we are weak, God is very strong (2 Corinthians 12:10). Rely on God to get you through tough times and you will start to gain peace.

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

This scripture is a great reminder of how we can get things done through God's strength. It's human nature to feel like some things can't get done and to want to give up at some point. But when God gives us strength, we can do anything we set our minds to. We often feel like we can't do some things due to the possible responses from others, not realizing that the only responses that truly matters is God's. The next time you feel like you can't do something or feel scared to do it, remember this scripture. Repeat it daily, believe it, and you will begin to see it manifest in your life!

1 Peter 5:7

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

This scripture teaches us to learn to be 100% dependent on God. When we give Him all of our fears, worries, hopes, dreams, etc. we release control over to God. When we do this, we are basically telling God that we trust Him and that we believe that He has the power to work things out. Not only does it show God that we trust Him, it's a huge relief to us. It may be tough to leave your worries with God at first, but as you start to see Him work in your life, it will get easier and easier. Learn to give everything over to God and watch Him take care of it all!

These are only a handful of scriptures that we can apply to our lives. The Bible gives so much insight and guidance as to how to live a righteous life. Due to our human nature we will make mistakes, but God is a God of forgiveness. The more we stay in His word and work to apply it to our lives, the more content and successful we will be.
