Keep the Right Attitude

Throughout life, you will encounter trials and tribulations. What matters is how you respond to them. You can respond negatively by feeling bad for yourself and sulking. Or you can respond positively by using the setback as motivation to get to your comeback. How will you respond?

It's so easy to get a negative attitude when things don't seem like they're going to work out. It's so easy to give up and throw a pity party when things don't go your way. However, we have to remember the promises of God and meditate on them. God promises that all things will work for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28). He also promises that your latter days shall be greater than your former days (Job 8:7). We have to keep pressing and moving forward regardless of the situation we're facing. I'm not saying you can't feel a certain way about what you're going through. We have emotions and we're allowed to express them. What I'm saying is don't let your feelings get in the way of your progress. Yes you may feel sad, but don't let that sadness bring you down to the point where you can't get back up. Your attitude can make or break your progress.

I try to see things from a different perspective, that way I can humble myself and realize that it's not the end of the world. Sometimes I do forget and get stuck, but when I pick myself back up and keep going I make so much more progress. I also try to recognize that things may not have worked out a certain way because there is a better way. God knows best and it's especially important to remember this is times of turmoil. It's definitely hard to see in the moment, but keep that in mind. Push through your pain and you will get to your blessing.

We often forget that pain is temporary, no matter how long it seems to you. If we remember to look into the long-term, or the big picture, we'll be able to put things into perspective and go about the situation differently. As Kirk Franklin once said, there's a blessing in the storm!

What do you do to keep the right attitude?
