Control Your Thoughts

Happy Monday all! I hope everyone has a prosperous and productive week! I'm also praying for safe travels for those traveling for the holiday!

The mind is a powerful thing. Your thoughts dictate your words, actions, beliefs, and attitude toward yourself and others. What are you allowing in your mind each day? How are you dealing with the negative thoughts that attack your mind?

Everything starts with a thought. Your mood is determined by your thoughts. One negative thought could throw your entire day off. Make an effort to start and end your days with the right mindset. If negative thoughts start coming in, fight them off. One way to do that is be more in tune with God's word. Whether it's through prayer, meditation on His word, or listening to sermons, open up your mind to God and reflect on His promises. Another way to fight off negative thoughts is to fill your mind with positive statements such as "I am beautiful" or "Today is going to be a great day!" Simple thoughts like those could change your whole day, especially as you start to think on them more often.

Personally, I know that I tend to get distracted easily sometimes and this can be an easy way for negativity to sneak in. Distractions render you vulnerable and allowing your mind to wander is a dangerous thing. This can result in anxiety over situations that don't even make sense and you'll most likely end up spending more time worrying than living. Recognize distractions and deal with them appropriately.

Think of it like this: the more negative thoughts that start to crowd your mind, the more blessings you have in front of you. Moving up in life means fighting greater battles, especially mentally. You have to know how to handle the negativity that comes your way. I've often been told that the devil wouldn't be fighting you so hard if you weren't doing something right or moving ahead in your life. Use this as motivation to keep going. Lately, I've been in a constant mental battle myself and it's been draining. However, as I continue to learn how to confide in the Lord and fill my mind with positivity, my mind is more at peace.

Taking control over your mind takes time and discipline. You have to practice so much that it becomes normal and easy to throw out the negativity that tries to come your way. When you get to that point, you'll be so glad you took the time and went through the process. Your mind should not hinder your life, but enhance it!

What are some ways that you fight off negative thoughts?
